Jean-Pierre Berchez
Scrum Events
Jean-Pierre Berchez is a Level 2 Ambassador of the Agile Academy, recognized for his pioneering role in the early days of Scrum and his unwavering commitment to agile leadership and organizational evolution. With a career in IT dating back to 1992, Jean-Pierre first encountered Scrum in 1995 while working at EASEL—alongside none other than Dr. Jeff Sutherland, co-creator of Scrum.
His leadership approach has always been centered on people, autonomy, and trust. From running flat-hierarchy sales organizations to now shaping agile education across Europe, Jean-Pierre brings over three decades of practical insight to the teams he serves. Whether he’s teaching Agile Leadership, Lean development, or facilitating Scrum workshops with Scrum’s original creators, his mission remains clear: empowering individuals to shape meaningful, adaptive organizations.
Experience
Jean-Pierre Berchez is a seasoned agile educator and thought leader with more than 30 years of experience in software engineering, project management, and agile transformation. His agile journey began as early as 1995 at EASEL Corporation, where Scrum was first implemented by Dr. Jeff Sutherland—a historic intersection that profoundly shaped his career.
After holding executive roles in IT firms and leading software tool consultancies, Jean-Pierre became Managing Director of TogetherSoft GmbH from 1999 to 2003. There, he implemented a flat, autonomous organizational structure—long before such practices became mainstream. This approach, rooted in trust and self-organization, naturally aligned with agile values and laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to people-first leadership.
Today, Jean-Pierre works as a certified Scrum trainer (Scrum.org, Scrum Inc.) and agile coach. He conducts training, facilitates leadership workshops, and organizes milestone events in the agile community, such as Scrum Day Germany and certification workshops with Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber themselves.
As a Level 2 Ambassador of the Agile Academy, Jean-Pierre is not only a carrier of agile knowledge but also a key architect of its human-centric future.
