Intelygence GmbH
Michael Küsters is a Level 2 Ambassador of Agile Academy, recognized for his uncompromising commitment to real agility. With a background as a CTO, COO, software architect, and transformation lead, Michael brings more than a decade of experience coaching organizations of all sizes toward sustainable agility. His unique approach combines deep technical know-how with organizational design and systems thinking.
Michael is also the author of several well-known books, including The Spirit of Scrum and Extreme Agility, both praised for their storytelling depth and practical insights. Known for his bold views and willingness to challenge ineffective norms, Michael inspires change through clear guidance, radical honesty, and a focus on long-term impact over trendy frameworks.
Experience
Michael Küsters has been active in the agile world for more than 10 years, holding leadership positions such as Chief Technology Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Software Developer, and Portfolio Coach. With a career that spans agile transformation, enterprise architecture, and digital strategy, he helps organizations navigate complexity by applying principles from Scrum, SAFe, LeSS, XP, and Kanban — always focusing on what works rather than what’s popular.
Michael is the creator of the TOP Structure, a scale-free, pattern-based approach that enables companies to become more agile without relying on rigid frameworks. He frequently works with executive teams and senior leadership to foster organizational agility in a way that’s coherent, humane, and fit for the future.
As a thought leader and provocateur in the agile space, Michael is also known for his humorous and critical takes on the state of agility. His publications such as The Scream Guide and Everything Wrong With Agile provide a satirical lens on widespread agile anti-patterns, challenging the community to reflect and improve.
Michael’s coaching is deeply human-centered and results-oriented. He inspires both individuals and organizations to break out of outdated systems, create meaningful change, and cultivate environments of continuous learning, responsibility, and alignment.
