This immersive 2–3 day training introduces the fundamentals of agility in physical product development. Learn how core Agile principles translate to hardware projects and gain hands-on experience through simulations, teamwork, and prototyping exercises.
The course is ideal for engineers, product managers, designers, and other cross-functional contributors moving from traditional to agile ways of working.
1. Agile Values for Hardware
Explore Agile values and principles and how they adapt to hardware contexts. You'll examine key differences between hardware and software development and discuss the Agile Product Development Charter as a foundational mindset shift.

2. Roles and Team Collaboration
Understand how traditional roles like Project Manager or Product Manager map to Scrum roles. Learn how agile hardware teams collaborate across disciplines—mechanical, electronic, and software—to resolve dependencies and co-create value.

3. Iterative Development & Validation
Experience agile development cycles through simulation-based activities using LEGO and physical components. You'll plan, build, and test iteratively, learning how prototyping can reduce risk and accelerate feedback.

4. Managing Constraints & Workflows
Learn how to deal with inventory, suppliers, compliance, and real-world limitations in physical systems. Use Kanban boards, burn-down charts, and blocker visualization to support flow and transparency in your team’s work.

5. Case Snapshots & Industry Inspiration
Review short case examples from companies applying Agile to hardware, including automotive and manufacturing sectors. Discover how these pioneers adapted their approaches and where Agile@HW helped them go faster and learn earlier.

Bring Your Own Ideas & Questions
We encourage participants to bring their questions to the training. Any question and real-world example from your side will make everything you and others learn more tangible. It will also result in more energy throughout the training which is connected to better learning.

Your Certification

Your Agile@Hardware Level 2 Training
This Level 2 course is for practitioners who have worked with Agile@Hardware and wish to deepen their skills through hands‑on experience and peer exchange.
We focus on applying Level 1 concepts—like iterative MVP development, backlog structuring, stakeholder alignment—in the real context of physical product work.
You’ll bring real‐world challenges (BYOC), exchange experiences, and explore advanced practices like gating hybrid models and managing long‑lead dependencies.
Recommended: Minimum 6 months of experience using Agile@Hardware in live projects.
1. Recap, Reflections & BYOC
We revisit key Level 1 principles and examine your own MVP and backlog-structuring efforts.
Participants share successes, blockers, and lessons learned—creating a space for collective growth and inspiration.

2. MVP‑Driven Iteration & Backlog Slicing
Explore the concept of a physical‑product MVP: what it means, how to scope it, and how to validate assumptions early.
Learn backlog structuring techniques—functional vs. module slices—for iterative delivery with cross‑disciplinary teams.

3. Planning for Constraints & Long‑Lead Dependencies
Dive deeper into planning tools that cope with long‑lead items, gating, and synchronized cadences (e.g., mechanical cycles vs. software sprints).
Exercises include mock sprint planning, dependency mapping, and hybrid stage‑gate integration.

4. Prototyping & Feedback under Physical Constraints
How can we shorten feedback loops when prototyping is slow or costly?
Learn advanced prototyping methods—simulation, modular experiments, fast‑fail framing—and share what’s worked in your context.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Line Management
Understand how line management evolves in agile hardware teams.
Explore stakeholder alignment strategies, transparency formats, risk ownership, and managing compliance-heavy environments.

6. Agile Metrics, Facilitation & Peer Clinics
Explore hardware-specific agile metrics: learning velocity, WIP‑aging, flow feedback—and how they inform continuous improvement.
Strengthen facilitation and self‑leadership skills through peer‑led retrospectives, problem‑solving circles, and group coaching.

7. Advanced Practices & Scaling
Discover advanced practices built on Level 1 foundations—e.g., agile BOMs, system DoD, hardware-centric architectures.
Discuss scaling across teams, synchronizing cadences, and adapting gating models for broader hardware orgs.

Bring Your Own Ideas & Questions
We encourage participants to bring their questions to the training. Any question and real-world example from your side will make everything you and others learn more tangible. It will also result in more energy throughout the training which is connected to better learning.
