Certified ScrumMaster®

The Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) training is the start of your agile journey. Here you will learn the foundations of Scrum and your role as Scrum Master and Servant Leader.

After passing the exam, the training ends with the certificate as Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) of the Scrum Alliance, the world's largest certification company for agile training. Agile Academy trainers offer Scrum Master certifications of varying lengths. The Scrum Alliance's minimum requirements are 14 hours (online) or 16 hours for on-site training. Many trainers offer more advanced focus topics for Scrum Masters in their trainings! These trainings usually go over three days and include at least 20 hours.

Directly after the test you will receive your Certified ScrumMaster® certification as a digital badge and a printable certificate.

Due to the current pandemic situation, there are no on-site Scrum Master trainings at the moment! Depending on the regulations in force at the time of the training, some providers are planning to offer on-site training again in the second half of the year.

The Certified ScrumMaster® training

What will I learn during the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) Training?

The trainers and training providers are responsible for the exact contents of the individual trainings. See their individual training description of the Certified Scrum Master training on their dedicated training page by clicking on one of the training offers in the list above.

Depending on the offer, the written exam required for certification is included in the training workload or can be taken independently afterwards. To pass the exam, 37 of the 50 questions must be answered correctly within 60 minutes. The Scrum Master Test is now available in 13 languages and requires participation in a Certified Scrum Master Training.
The topics of the test are the training contents listed below, which every Certified Scrum Master training must cover!

These contents of the Scrum Master certification are based on the learning objectives of the Scrum Alliance®. The Scrum Alliance is the largest global and internationally recognized organization for agile certifications.

The Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) training addresses all those interested in Scrum. Whether you are just starting out with Scrum or have already gained some experience - if you are faced with the challenge of building a high-performance team, the Agile Academy is the right place for you.

A mixture of Scrum novices and more experienced participants guarantees an optimal exchange in the training group. It also gives us the chance to look at the Scrum framework from different perspectives and to create a common understanding of the role of the Scrum Master and the tasks at hand.

This is also why our participants love the training! Additionally, you can look at the training providers to see what focus they give to the Scrum Master training. Depending on the trainer, the trainings can be more software/hardware related or they can be general and also cover examples of Scrum Master activities from other industries and business units.

The best thing to do is to look up the target group in the respective training. There you will find information if, for example, specific requirements for Scrum Masters in marketing or the medical sector are covered.

All Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) trainings of the Agile Academy are led by certified and hand-picked Certified Scrum Trainers (CST). Thus, we ensure a consistent quality of the trainings and help to promote a company-wide, uniform understanding of Scrum.

Will I get a Scrum Master Certificate?

After successfully completing the Certified Scrum Master® course and the written exam, you become a Certified Scrum Master® (CSM®). In addition you will get a two-year membership of the Scrum Alliance®. The Scrum Alliance is the leading organization for agile certifications in the world!

The written exam is set by the Scrum Alliance and can be taken directly at the end of the last day of your course. Active participation in the course and the exercises discussed there are usually sufficient to pass the exam with top marks.

The two-year membership in the Scrum Alliance also has several advantages for the participants. On the one hand, it entitles you to wear the CSM badge, i.e. the Scrum Master award, and on the other hand, you can visit the events of the Scrum Alliance and affiliated companies to continue your agile journey.

In addition, so-called Scrum Education Units can be collected at all events, which enable an extension after two years. Just attending the monthly Agile100 three times within 2 years is sufficient for an extension. The Agile100 is organized by the Agile Academy and enables Scrum Masters to exchange ideas with like-minded people and gain insights into best practices and innovative ideas from the agile world.
