What certification will I receive after participation?

All participants of an in-person course become a Certified LeSS Practitioner and receive an account on less.works. Here they can find additional information about LeSS, share course information, and stay in touch with other course participants.

The LeSS Practitioner certification expires after 2 years and requires a renewal fee.

What is the difference between the provisional and the in-person Certified LeSS Practitioner?

The main difference between the provisional Certified LeSS Practitioner and the in-person Certified LeSS Practitioner is that it is an online course, not an in-person, on-site course.

For you as a participant, this means first and foremost that you will probably have to pay better attention to staying alert and focused, there may be domestic interruptions, or you may have to anticipate that technical issues may arise.

On the other hand, we have all become quite accustomed to the new circumstances during a pandemic, and so you can also benefit from some of the advantages of online courses, such as no travel and long commutes, the ability to complete the course program in several shorter segments, etc.

What will I learn as a Certified LeSS Practitioner?

A Provisional Certified LeSS Practitioner course includes a minimum of 3 full days of content, spread over a minimum of 5 days, and has a maximum class size of 12 participants. The days do not have to be consecutive. Exactly how the provider designs their course is up to them. You can find out more about this on the respective course description once you have selected a suitable date from the list for you.

Each (provisional) Certified Less Practitioner course covers the following topics:

  • Why LeSS?
  • Scrum, LeSS and LeSS Huge at a glance
  • LeSS rules and principles
  • What is the product?
  • The organization of feature teams around Customer Value/Business Value
  • The Definition of Done and its influence/consequences
  • Product Owner and Product Backlog
  • The Role of Management
  • Organizational influences and typical organizational structures in LeSS
  • LeSS product backlog refinement, sprint planning, review, and retrospective
  • The importance of technical practices in scaling

Target audience

Who should attend the Certified LeSS Practitioner course?

Other resources for self-taught learning of the Scrum basics are offered in our knowledge area as well as the free e-learning courses on Scrum Foundations and Agile Fundamentals (both e-learning courses are only available in English).
